Curious About Paid Social Ads?

Answering your questions about how to run Facebook ads! Everything you need to know to decide if ads are a good fit for your business.

Have you been curious about running Social Ads for your business? These ads are so much more effective that traditional advertising avenues and cheaper too. There is an ad for every business to run on Facebook/Instagram. I’ll answer some questions here that I get a lot in hopes that it clears things up for you.

Do the ads run on Instagram and Facebook?

Yes! You can restrict your ads to only show up on Instagram if that makes sense for you, but I don’t think that’s the best strategy for most. I like to let Facebook free to find all potential clients and customers. Meta uses all the data it has on it’s users to reach them with all the things they’ll be interested in. 


When we create really great ads for you that speak clearly to your ideal clients and customers Meta can deliver those Clients to you. It’s a win-win. Your clients are being exposed to products and services they’re already interested in or in need of, and you get to be successful in the business you have built in helping and serving these customers.

How much money do I need to spend?

Your budget depends on your goals, your business, and how you want to use ads. Let me explain.

So what are your goals?

Facebook Ads are powerful! There are six different objectives you can pick for your Campaign: Awareness, Traffic, Engagement, Leads, App promotion, Sales.

Awareness

These ads are great if you are a Local Brick and Mortar Business and want people in your area to know about your business - a great alternative to radio or tv ads. They are much cheaper than these traditional ways of advertising. Especially if you DO NOT have an email marketing strategy, these will be the foundation of your Meta Ads strategy. ~$10/day

Leads

If you have an email marketing strategy (and I think you ALL should), you MUST have a Lead Generation Campaign. These Campaigns offer your prospective clients a freebie in exchange for their email. This takes some experience in setting up and testing different audiences and freebie offers. 


Here’s the REALLY valuable thing about Meta Ads; you learn so much about your audience. You may think your audience has certain characteristics, but once we start testing and evaluating the data we may find that your audience is different than you thought! This will equip you to serve your audience much better in the future. At least $10-15/day.

Engagement

How many times have you created the perfect post; hours of planning and writing and selecting the perfect image, and NO ONE sees it. Well, mom sees it, but no one else! Engagement Ads make that a thing of the past!


Unless you’re Beyonce, your posts will easily be lost in the feed; if they are seen at all. These are like that “Boost” button you have probably tried before, but way better. Once you’ve brought people into your warm audience using Awareness or Leads Campaigns, Engagement Campaigns (and email marketing) help you connect with them further -  eventually to the point that they want to buy from you because they like, know, and trust you! $10/day

Sales

These are the most expensive types of Campaigns. Definitely a good option if you have the budget, but you can make sales through Engagement and email marketing as well. You want to spend your average order total/day for these ads.

What kind of business do you have?

Local Businesses

For the local businesses, I like to use Awareness/or Leads (if there is Email Marketing in place) and Engagement Ads. 

Online Businesses (Coaches, Course Creators, Podcasters, etc.)

Y’all probably have an Email Marketing Strategy so you absolutely should be running a Leads Campaign to get new people into that funnel on autopilot! This will change your business and keep your audience growing.


You can also use Engagement ads to boost the exposure your posts are getting. This will make your Social Media Strategy much more effective and help you cultivate a relationship with your audience both potential customers and potential repeat customers.

Ecom

For ecommerce you will use all the Online Business tips + you may run some Sales ads too.

How do you want to use ads?

You should have 2 strategies when it comes to Meta Ads.

  1. Cold audience capture and
  2. Warm audience nurture.

To be successful in any business you need a strategy to bring in people from a Cold Audience; this is how your business grows. And with the right ads in place this can run on autopilot and give you predictable growth. You’ll end up with a machine where you put ad spend in one side and get profit out the other. Spend more or less based on your goals.


You may have heard about the IOS updates that have limited the information we can access about Meta users. These changes have made it very difficult to retarget ads to users. The move now is to nurture your warm audiences with a boost from Engagement Campaigns to connect with your audience or to sell to a customer again.

How many ads should you run?

I suggest running a Cold Audience Campaign and a Warm Audience Campaign.

Cold : Awareness & Leads

Warm: Engagement
